REVIEWS:
"While "The Deepening" is
not a film for a big audience (and was probably never intended
to be), the movie has definitely something to offer the die-hard
fans of independent flicks and B-movies. The
film pays, intentionally or unintentionally, tribute to those
American flicks from an era long gone. A perfect mix of the slasher
genre with a who dun'it, topped with macho ingredients that are
easily compared with the attitude you could only fid in blacksploitation
films. Think Doris Wishman on a Monday morning. The inclusion
of live footage on the Twin Towers gave it even a little Mondo
feel...Nice treatment!"

"The Deepening succeeds
where many independent horror movies fail. The script, written
by Jim O'Rear from a story idea by Ted Alderman, is a far cry
from your standard slasher movie. Sure, The Deepening has its
masked serial killer, a bounty of beautiful victims and all the
bloodshed that you have come to expect. But this movie rises above
the pack with its intelligent dialogue and character development.
Instead of just sitting back and waiting for the next kill, you
are drawn into the story and care about what the characters are
saying." - RedRum
